Flotation is based on differences in the physical and chemical properties of minerals. Reagents are added to the pulp (a mixture of water and crushed ore), where they interact with the surface of the minerals, changing their wettability. Flotation reagents are classified into several types:

Highly selective collector for flotation of sulphide polymetallic ores:
- Highly effective for flotation of copper ores, pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, etc.
- It is used in the flotation of copper-lead, nickel ores and gold chemically bound to pyrite.
- Characteristics: organic potassium salt, pale yellow or yellow-grey granules/powder, active substance >90%, free alkali <0.2%, moisture and volatiles <4%.
- Packaging: polypropylene bags up to 40 kg, big-size containers 750-1000 kg.
Flotimine® (Phosphordithionic Acid), ETC:
- Thiol collector for flotation of copper sulphides, nickel-containing minerals, antimony minerals, chalcocite and precious metals.
- Particularly effective in the flotation of secondary and oxidized copper sulphides, applicable at neutral pH.
- Characteristics: transparent yellow-brown liquid, specific gravity 1.13 g/cm3, active substance 49-51%, boiling point 107°C, freezing point -11°C.
- Packaging: 1100 l plastic barrels, 20 ton tank containers.

Foaming agents are special chemical compounds designed to create stable foam in the processes of separation and extraction of useful components from ores, oil and other materials. Their main purpose is to promote the formation of air bubbles with certain properties in the pulp volume and the formation of a stable foam layer of the required structure on the pulp surface.
Frothers work by reducing the surface tension of a liquid, causing gas bubbles to form. These bubbles form a foam that effectively separates the various components of a mixture. For example, in the flotation process, frothers help extract valuable minerals from ore by creating a foam to which particles of the target material adhere, rising to the surface and separating from the rest of the mass.
There are several types of foaming agents:
- Anionic: have a high foaming capacity and are used for fast and effective foaming.
- Cationic: have a softer effect on materials and are used when foam stability is important.
- Non-ionic: have universal properties and can be used in a wide range of conditions.
- Combination: contain combinations of different chemical groups to achieve maximum efficiency under specific conditions.
One example of foaming agents is the Flotek reagents developed by Vector Holding Company for flotation of non-ferrous metal ores, coals and coal sludge. They are highly effective in flotation of monometallic and polymetallic sulphide ores, as well as oxidised, weakly metamorphosed coals and anthracites, especially in a hard environment.

- Specific gravity: 0.87-0.93 g/cm3
- Boiling point: 140-360 °C

Low quality of circulating and process water negatively affects the extraction of metals from ores, reduces foaming, increases the consumption of flotation reagents and intensifies the processes of salt deposition and corrosion in equipment. For effective purification of industrial and waste water, coagulation and flocculation methods are used, as well as inhibitors of salt deposition and corrosion.

Description and characteristics
Anionic flocculants "Elastone" of the "A" series, developed by OOO "Uralkhimservis", are highly effective polymer compounds. This is a powder from transparent to white, odorless, with a wide range of applications in water purification and industry. The main component is a polymer of prop-2-enamide with sodium prop-2-enoate, also known as anionic polyacrylamide.
Specifications include a bulk density of 0.75-0.90 g/cm³, aqueous extract pH of 6.0-9.0, and flash point of at least 140°C. The product has flame spread concentration limits of 0.6% to 7.0%. Various grades are available (A 1-100 to A 901-1000), each tailored to specific applications.
Application areas and technological processes
"Elastone" series "A" is used in water treatment, wastewater treatment, pulp clarification, filtration and mechanical dewatering of sludge. The main areas of application include the preparation of drinking and industrial water, phase separation processes (solid - liquid, liquid - liquid). The product is widely used in various industries: housing and communal services, energy, metallurgy, mining, chemical, pulp and paper, oil refining, food and microbiological industries.
The main technological processes using flocculants include accelerating the sedimentation of solid particles, improving the quality of filtration and the efficiency of water purification.

Flocculants "Elastone" series "A" are distinguished by the stability of characteristics when stored correctly, the absence of odor and compatibility with most technological processes. The product is classified as low-hazard (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007) with a MAC in the air of the working zone of 10 mg/m³. It does not belong to hazardous substances according to the SGS.
The product is supplied in packages of up to 1000 kg. It is recommended to use personal protective equipment, avoid dust formation, ensure ventilation of workplaces, and in case of contact with skin or eyes - rinse with water. Disposal must be carried out in accordance with regulations, discharge of undiluted product into water bodies and sewers is prohibited.
